We are here to help ~ October is full of picturesque beauty everywhere you turn with fun activities and festivals that the entire family would enjoy. Here is a list of the events that will be going on in Blue Ridge, GA and the surrounding area.
EVERYDAY
The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway has their wonderful rail excursions that depart the train depot at 11 a.m. for an hour train ride along the Toccoa River to McCaysville, GA/Copperhill, TN. This is where two cities join with a blue line down the middle of the sidewalk/street. People from all over enjoy having their pictures taken while having one foot in Georgia and the other in Tennessee. Sorry the train is closed on Wednesdays.
Another great activity to do while visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains is going to Mercier Orchards. They have fresh fruit in season, a fabulous bakery and much more. They have U-pick cherries and blueberries and when in season, U-pick apples. Mercier's is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
WEEKENDS
Enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables grown here in the North Georgia Mountains by local farmers at the Blue Ridge Farmer's Market - Saturday mornings in front of The Art Center, downtown Blue Ridge.

U-Pick Apples - Visit Mercier Orchards and enjoy picking some delicious apples every weekend in September, weather permitting. Spend the day at the farm and enjoy a tractor ride through the orchards. Great family activity.

John C. Campbell Fall Festival - Celebrate the rich heritage of the Appalachians at the annual fall festival, featuring over 180 juried and non-juried crafts people. Enjoy continuous live music, dance, craft demonstrations, good food and much more!

Indian Summer Festival - Enjoy a variety of different arts and crafts, music, pottery, home made goodies, furniture, photographs and more. Admission is $4.00 with children under 6 years are free.
October 6-9 & 13-16
Blue Ridge Community Theater presents Grace & Gloria- Grace is Velveeta and Wonder Bread and Gloria is Brie and Lobster. Grace can't read or write and Gloria can't figure out Grace's wood stove. Gloria volunteers for Hospice, an organization that, among other things, helps the terminally ill live their last days comfortably. Grace is her uncooperative new assignment. This tightly crafted play explores the differences and similarities between the two women. The contrast results in a touching and funny play. Showtimes are Thursday's, Friday's and Saturday's at 7:30 pm with Sunday's at 2:00 pm

Georgia Mountain Fall Festival - Fun for the whole family. Enjoy arts, crafts & exhibits. Clogging, singing, authentic mountain demonstrations, visit the pioneer village, and the new attraction Swampmaster. Watch as the Swampmaster catches an 8 foot, 200 lb Alligator with his bare hands! Your children can even hold a baby alligator safely and have their picture taken by the expert handler. Also included is the Ole Time Fiddlers Convention. Admission is $10 with children under 10 years are free. Parking is $2

Fall Arts in the Park - A Southern tradition in the Spring, and they have now added a second Arts in the Park for the fall, featuring over 200 arts, crafts and food booths. The best in the mountain crafts and fine arts, artist's demonstrations, music and dance. The Arts in the Park in the Spring has been recognized as one of the Top 20 Events by the Southeastern Tourism Society. Admission is $5.00
October 8-9 & 15-16
Apple Festival - 40th Annual Apple Festival with over 300 vendors with handmade/hand crafted items and on-site demonstrations. Lots of good things to eat. Other fun things to do will be an antique car show on the 8th and a parade on the 15th.
October 15-16 & 22-23
Mountain Harvest Arts and Craft Sale - 40th Annual Event. 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Mountain Arts & Crafts, food and fun for the whole family. No admission fee and free parking. Lots of local vendors.
October 15-16
Gold Rush Days - Dahlonega, GA - The historic gold mining town of Dahlonega goes all out each fall in celebration of its rich mountain and gold mining heritage. Gold Rush Days is the largest arts and crafts festival in the NE Georgia mountains, with over 300 arts and crafts booths. Also look for demonstrations and competitions with traditional mountain pastimes like hog calling, a liars' contest, crosscut sawing, clogging, buck dancing, and bluegrass music.

Kiwanis Fair of Blue Ridge - Kiwanis Fairgrounds, Blue Ridge - Enjoy Rides, Fairway, Carnival goodies, fine local entertainers performing each day.
October 22
Paws In The Park - Downtown Blue Ridge City Park - Mark your calendar and plan to come and enjoy a day with your favorite pet. Event includes parade, pet education and demonstrations, rabies clinic, micro-chipping, contests, prizes, photos with your pet, and much more!!! 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Parade starts at 10:00 am and event not to miss. From Kitties to Llamas this parade is a not miss!
October 31
Halloween Safe Zone - Downtown Blue Ridge - Hundreds of costumed kids and grown-up kids plus your pets are welcome gather in downtown Blue Ridge to celebrate. Fun begins at 6:00 and runs until 8:30. Costume contest begins at 6:15, with a pet contest at 7:30. Halloween Movies in the park beginning at dusk.

Roxie Watson Band - Presented by the Blue Ridge Community Theater and Out of the Blue - five piece string band that plays what they like to call "alterna-grass," a mix of traditional sounding songs that contain three and four part harmonies, elements of old country, Appalachian music, hymns & bluegrass, without adhering to the traditions of any one genre. Show begins at 7:30 and tickets are $20.00.
September 5
Postmortem - Blue Ridge Community Theater - This clever thriller is set in a magnificent pseudo-medieval castle on a bluff overlooking the Connecticut River. The show starts at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday's and 2:00 pm on Sundays.
