Mountain Activities with Cabin Rentals on the Toccoa River

The temperatures are starting to heat up here in the North Georgia Mountains as well as many of the mountain activities. Take a hike to the Swinging Bridge and don't forget to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy along the Toccoa River. Do a little antique shopping in Downtown Blue Ridge, or book a trip on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway and revel in the beautiful scenery on your way to McCaysville, GA/Copperhill, TN. Reserve a luxury cabin rental on the Toccoa River, and don't forget to bring your tubes and tube down the Toccoa River to Horseshoe Bend park. Other fun activities going on this month include:

Spring Has Arrived to Georgia Cabin Rentals in the Blue Ridge Mountains

Spring is in the air! Now that everything is blooming, there are several spring activities that you will not want to miss. The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway has resumed their run, the Ocoee Whitwater Center and Rafting  are gearing up for a nice season, and Lake Blue Ridge is filling back up after dam repairs - in fact, they are 15 ft. ahead of schedule. Fourteenth Annual Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race

The Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race is celebrating it's fourteenth year this Saturday and continues to be a favorite among racers throughout the Southeast. Up to 100 co-ed teams of three gather welcoming spring to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia. This year's race promises to be a challenging contest with lots of surprises and some of the most stunning scenery anywhere. Racers will run along the forested trails of the Chattahoochee National Forest, paddle on the Toccoa River and/or Lake Blue Ridge, mountain bike steep trails and complete mystery challenges along the way. This year the finish line will be in downtown at the Blue Ridge City Park in front of The Art Center, with live music and new finish line festivities.

Winterfest Fire & Ice Sculpting

Winterfest Fire and Ice Sculpting located in Downtown Blue Ridge City Park February 19, 2011. A great way to enjoy a Saturday afternoon with Ice Sculpting in the park, a chili cookoff and live music! Enjoy the fun from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. while you and your family can participate in interactive Ice Sculpting, featuring professional ice carvers in the park. Children of all ages will love having their name carved in ice or even making their own ice sculptures. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. it's warm up time with the chili cookoff. Sample dozens of chili recipes for an admission of $5.00. Live music alongside the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway will be performed from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. So come on out, tap your toes to a lineup of family entertainment, sample some great chili and watch professional ice carvers turn a block of ice into a work of art!

Luxury Cabin Rentals and the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway over the holidays

A family "must" over the holidays in Blue Ridge while staying in a luxury cabin rentals, is to celebrate the holidays with Blue Ridge Scenic Railway's The Santa Express! The Santa Express runs November 26th thru December 24th. Enjoy an hour train ride where your family will listen to Christmas stories, sing Christmas carols with Santa's elves, and even visit with Santa himself! 

The night excursion train to Santa's Village runs from November 26th thru December 18th on various dates. The train departs late afternoon around 4:30pm from Blue Ridge for the 1 hour trip to McCaysville, GA/Copperhill, TN. Santa's Village is located on the deck overlooking the Toccoa/Ocoee River.
