There will be over 300 vendors with handmade, hand-crafted items, as well as many on-site demonstrations of how selected types of crafts are made. This year promises many new crafts as well as favorites from past festivals. There is a parade and antique car show each year.

The festival is a celebration of the apple harvest as well as a showcase for apple related items, crafts, foods, exhibits, rides, activities, performances, parades and other North Georgia culture. There is something at the Georgia apple orchards offer pick-your-own apples. For a memorable experience, plan to have some good old-fashioned fun picking your own apples. When you pick Ellijay apples, you are picking the absolute best.

From July to December, the local apple orchards in Ellijay feature the tastiest, tree-ripened North Georgia mountain apples for your tasting pleasure. You can choose from a huge variety, including Granny Smith, Arkansas Black, Golden and Red Delicious, Pink Lady, Wine Sap, and many others. Visit the Ellijay farmstands at the apple orchards for a selections of freshly picked apples but also fresh local produce, pies, fritters, breads, jams, ciders, cookies, juice and gifts.

The Georgia Apple Festival will be held at the Ellijay Lions Club Fairgrounds. Admission for adults are $5.00 and children under 10 are free. Parking is Free, however parking donations are appreciated. There are No Pets Allowed (does not apply to guide dogs.) The Apple Festival will go on weather rain or shine! Remember to bring a large bag to carry your purchases. We normally take one of those large canvas bags, because carrying even two or three small paper bags can be a pain. Come prepared to do some walking. Granny Smith Circle forms an outside loop, with other roads inside. All in all, a perfectly executed walk is probably close to 2 miles, including the journey from the bus stop to the festival and getting to and from your car.
