Must-Do Fall Events

Fall is just around the corner, and Blue Ridge has plenty to do during this gorgeous time of year. The stunning color palette of changing leaves is enough to make anyone want to stay outdoors all season, and all the events going on in the area will ensure you have lots of fun while you do. Check out some of our favorites below!


1.  Labor Day Picnic (Monday, September 1)


Come on down to Blue Ridge City Park and spend this Labor Day at the annual Labor Day Picnic! Pulled pork, ribs, barbecue chicken, and live music . . . what more could you ask for? The festivities start at 11:30 A.M. and last until all the food is gone. Bring a blanket or chairs and enjoy!

2.  Blues & BBQ (Friday, September 19th and Saturday, September 20)

This three-part event starts at 5:30 on Friday, September 19th with the Rotary Blues Train, a dinner combined with beer, wine, and street dancing (Tickets are available at here). Follow up the Blues Train with the Blues Crawl, which features food, beer, and live music starting at 7:00 P.M. in downtown Blue Ridge. Still not enough Blues for you? Make sure to catch the Blues & BBQ Festival on Saturday, September 20th. This all-day concert runs from noon until 9:00 P.M. in Blue Ridge City Park and features artists such as Frankie’s Blues Mission, the Mobile Slim Band, and more! Check out all the details here.

 

3.  Apple Picking (August - October on Saturdays & Sundays)


Fun for all ages, apple picking is one of the most popular fall activities! Check out Mercier Orchards—a seemingly all-encompassing shop that offers apple picking, tractor tours, and famous apple pies—or Mountain View Orchards for hayrides and delicious Southern food. Of course, stopping by both is always an option, as well!

 

4.  Fall Train Rides


Love the beautiful colors of fall? Be sure to check out the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. This journey along the Toccoa River will take your breath away as you pass between the stunning mix of reds, yellows, and oranges and the gorgeous view of the water. 5.  Fall Arts in the Park (Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12)

What better way to enjoy the colors of fall than blended with the colorful canvases of nearly 200 artists? Check out Fall Arts in the Park at Blue Ridge City Park on Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12 from 10:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Scheduled during peak leaf season, this annual festival promises food, fine art, and gorgeous fall colors.

 

6.  Paws in the Park (Saturday, October 18)

If you love animals, you’ll love Paws in the Park! Bring your own pet along to take part in the parade and meet a wide variety of animal friends. Take photos with your pet, compete in contests, and win prizes at this fur-friendly event! The parade starts at 10:00 A.M. Don’t miss it!
