There is a very special place in Blue Ridge, GA (located next door to Serendipity on Noontootla Creek and only 10 minutes from Blue Ridge Lake Sanctuary, Aska Escape Lodge, and Above the Timberline) that is found on 30 acres of an old Cherokee Indian settlement along ½ mile of the renown Noontootla Creek frontage that makes you feel a part of its history from the 1800s to the present. Beautiful sunrises peaking over the hills create a colorful palette of colors, bringing promise to a new day. Thus, naming this little piece of paradise Cherokee Sunrise seems apropos.
Blue Ridge History
Since the early 1900s, sheltered against a hillside, a simple southeastern-facing farmhouse has stood season after season with many a story to tell within its walls. There is something enchanting about living in an old house, as you wonder who came before you…sitting on the same porch, feeling the same peace and serenity, watching the same sunrise over the many decades, cooking in the same kitchen, and feeling the warmth from the wood stove in the winter months. Being a part of a historical thread on this piece of land is humbling and nostalgic.
As you turn into the drive off Aska Road, traverse down what used to be the old Aska Road when it was a dirt road. This road will wind around the pond and pull up to the quaint house now named Cherokee Sunrise. The promise of many a biting fish in the pond will delight even the youngest fisherman in your group! Explore the grounds of this enchanting property as you walk in the footsteps of the Cherokee Indians and, much later, the bootleggers who produced many a drop of moonshine!
The original farmhouse used to be the kitchen and the living room. Over the years, previous owners added on the bedrooms and bathrooms, and finally, we added on the secondary living space. Instead of tearing down the originally dilapidated house, we wanted to preserve the rich history of this special house, as it is such an integral part of the land.
Renovated in Restoration Hardware style with beautiful rustic lighting, old barn-wood walls, white linen curtains and duvets, and leather furnishings, you can experience luxe living in your own little house on the prairie. Most of your time will be spent on the front porch lounging in comfortable, conversational seating with a large screen TV overlooking the vast...

Things to do on Noontootla Creek and in Blue Ridge
You will find so much to do right on the grounds of Cherokee Sunrise that you won’t feel the need to leave. A fantastic fishing cabin in Blue Ridge, GA, catches a large-mouth bass in the pond. Keep an eye out for flat rocks that were once Indian stone tools.
For the fly fisherman, this very special stretch of Noontootla Creek is fishable with a guide only. We can set you up an amazing fishing guide and you can be sure to catch the trophy rainbow trout that will make you the envy of all your friends! All equipment is provided. Passionate about fishing, our fishing guides are enthusiastically eager to share their passion with you, whether a novice or experienced angler.
If you do want to venture out and experience Blue Ridge's area highlights, experience tubing down the Toccoa River starting from Van Zandt's Riverwalk Grill and Grocery, which is less than 5 minutes from the cabin. Go hiking in the Aska Adventure Area on the Aska Trails along Aska Road, or experience the supreme beauty of a waterfall nearby at Fall Branch Falls.
Enjoy a Blue Ridge Evening
At the end of the day, prepare your meals in a fully-stocked kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances and a gas grill, then enjoy dining al fresco with views of the pond and the first stars of evening shining down, and sounds of the freshwater spring completing the stage. This spring water will be the best cool mountain water you will ever taste! One of the most memorable meals you might make could be done in an iron skillet over a bed of coals and firewood in the fire pit. We cooked lamb chops, 7 minutes on each side, for a most delicious dinner! After dinner, sit in front of the fire pit and enjoy s’mores, conversation, and music (from Pandora on the screened-in porch's TV). For additional family fun inside, head out to the game room with/ foosball, a sofa, and a flat-screen TV with/a large selection of DVDs.
At the end of a memorable day, you will find restful repose in the King master bedroom with luxury linens, and the kids will enjoy sleeping in their own bedroom/bathroom on twin trout beds.
Happy memories are yours to make at Cherokee Sunrise. After staying here once, you will find your heart yearning to come back again and again because there is something so alluring about this place. Many people who have stayed on this land and in this place have felt the thread of history stirring in their hearts and yearning to spend time here again.

Amazing Stop on Our Road Trip!
After a couple of bad years, best friends for 20 years taking a road trip of a lifetime! This place is so peaceful. Our favorite stop so far. Loved the fire flies and the deer, but especially the ground hogs! We are already planning a trip back for a full week. Thank you ~...
