Must-see Waterfall Hikes

The North Georgia mountains throughout Fannin County are home to the lush Chattahoochee National Forest and the Benton Mackaye Trail filled with ferns, native azaleas, dogwood trees, red bud trees, mountain laurel, rhododendrons, and breathtaking waterfalls just waiting to be explored and experienced.
Long Creek Falls is a 50-foot waterfall located near Three Forks. Part of the Chattahoochee National Forest and accessed by the Benton MacKaye Trail, the Appalachian Trail, and the Duncan Ridge Trail, Long Creek Falls is one of the most beautiful.
But perhaps the most breathtaking waterfall hike to explore is the tallest waterfall in Georgia at the nearby Amicalola Falls near Ellijay. Considered the gateway to the Appalachian Trail, this waterfall is a springtime favorite activity as it spills 729 feet over boulders and mossy-green rocks. With the abundant spring rains, this swollen waterfall will be sure to delight. Long-range mountain views can be seen from the top of the falls before descending down a series of stairs and bridges for close-up views of the falls.
